Officially announced in Beijing 2010, the BMW Gran Coupe concept, the new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe with 4 doors competes with the Mercedes-Benz CLS and with the Audi A7 Sportback.

There will be three different engine types: the 640i Gran Coupe with 6 3L cylinders capable of delivering 320 horsepower and 450Nm going 0-60 in 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 250km/h, the 650i Gran Coupe V8 with 450 horsepower and 650Nm capable of reaching speeds of up to 250km/h and make 0-60 in 4.6 seconds, and the 640d Gran Coupe with 6 3L diesel cylinders with 313 horsepower and 630Nm, capable of delivering the same performances as the 640i Gran Coupe. There will also be a four wheel drive version.

The transmission is automatic and has 8 speeds.

The BMW M6 Gran Coupe with 560 horsepower and dual-clutch has also been announced.

As opposed to the CLS and the A7 Sportback, the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe has a form closer to a sedan than a coupe. Some might say that the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is nothing else than a 6 Series with the front of a 6 Series Coupe. The trunk is still 460 L, the same as in the 2 door coupe. The exterior design has something that expresses a BMW owner’s way to say “I am important, respect me”. It has a ruff beauty to it, that BMW neatly uses in most if its latest car.

Coming down to the gizmos, you can immediately recognize the fancy German technology: adaptive LED headlights, Parking Assist with Surround view System and cameras, BMW Night Vision, BMW Head-Up Display, High-End Surround Sound System and an iDrive system with trans-reflective technology for the display.

This is your usual BMW: fast and strong, elegant and beautiful.
