Back to the basics. It’s most likely that Lamborghini will introduce soon a Superleggera version of the Gallardo LP 560-4, just like they did with the previous LP 520-4.
Although it had a specific outfit, the Superleggera was only 100 kg less and got 10 extra bhp, it was not enough to outstand its base version.
It also kept the AWD, making fans wonder if the Gallardo platform was good enough to deal with a RWD system. Will this LP 550-2 be the base for the new Superleggera then?
Although details are not known yet, the name of this new LP 550-2 says it all. It will be a RWD coupe with a 5.2 V10 downgraded from 560 to 550 bhp.
It doesn’t wear sporty gear and the price is expected to be lower than the LP 560-4. That’s all good news because we know now that as much as 550 bhp and 540 Nm can be send solely to the rear axle. And it’s also a smart move from VAG to release a Gallardo that steps away from its German cousin, the Audi R8 V10.
