Video: Ultima claims they have beaten Top Gear lap record
Current official Top Gear test track record is 1 minute and 10.7 seconds in a £1 million track-only Ferrari FXX, which was driven by Michael Schumacher disguised as The Stig.
British sports car manufacturer Ultima claims they have beaten that time.
Ultima GTR720 reportedly lapped the Top Gear test track(also known as the Dunsfold aerodrome circuit) in 1 minute and 9.9 seconds. So why did not Top Gear feature this car?
According to Ultima spokesman Top Gear had ignored their repeated requests to feature its cars in the show, so they decided to book the track for a private test session. No word on why Top Gear did not want to feature a 720 horsepower British made sports car.
Even though GTR720 was optimised for the track, the spokesman said it was still fully road-legal unlike the million pound track only Ferrari FXX.
