Onuk Sazan – New supercar from Turkey

by Alex Patrick

Onuk Sazan is a mid-engined supercar from Turkey, designed by Dr. Ekber Onuk in honor to his son, Kaan “Sazan” Onuk who passed away in a car accident in 1996.

Weight of the Onuk Sazan is just 1,000 kg (2204 lbs) thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber, Dr.Onuk wants to bring it down a bit more to 920 kg (2028 lbs).

At the moment one prototype has been built that uses a LS7 engine from Corvette producing 512 hp and 645 Nm of torque. Power is sent to rear axle via five-speed manual transmission. Top speed is 300 km/h (186 mph).

Alternative to Corvette’s LS7 is Nissan’s 3.5-liter V6 VQ35DE turbocharged engine producing 485 hp and 588 Nm of torque.

Only five cars will be built a year with pricing around €200,000($288,000). Production will be done at Dr. Onuk’s high-speed boat producing company Yonca ONUK.
