Audi e-tron goes on sale in 2012, limited to 1000 units

Audi introduced the e-tron at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. In October Audi confirmed that e-tron will make it into production by 2013.
New details reveal, that the production will be limited to just 1000 units and it will be priced above the R8 when it goes on sale in 2012.
Audi thinks that 1000 units is achievable, but if necessary it can finish the production earlier if there’s not enough interest.
We are not that skeptical as Audi, and think the production will be sold out quite fast. Tesla has already proved with their all-electric Roadster that there is plenty of interest for premium electric sports cars.
The e-tron has four electric motors, one on each wheel, offering a total output of 313 horsepower and an impressive 3,319 lb-ft of torque. 0-100 km/h is 4.8 seconds and top speed is 200 km/h (124 mph). Expected range is around 248 km (154 miles) from a full charge.
