Minivan Recall

by Will Parker

Chrysler is recalling around 285,000, Chrysler Town and Country, and Dodge Grand Caravan Minivans from the years 2008 to 2009. The recall is due to an improper wiring harness in the sliding doors.

Since Volkswagen has a near identical make like the Routan, they are also recalling 15,902 of their vehicles from the same years. The main concern according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is that the minivan’s lower hinge on the sliding door could eventually make contact with the harness. Later on this could lead to the risk of the insulation becoming worn down. This will than lead to a high resistive short circuit within the latch mechanism, which is also located inside the sliding door. It is recommended that anyone who owns a Routan should check with their local dealer for a free examination and repair of any parts that may be part of the recall.
